Look Good...Feel Better

Look Good...Feel Better (LGFB) initially began in 1987 when a physician noticed a woman undergoing Cancer treatment who was depressed and so self conscious that she would not venture anywhere other than her hospital room.  He wanted to transform not only her look, but also her outlook, and that is where it all began.  Today, the program is offered in every state and is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  It was brought to Rome, GA in 2001 by a group of ladies involved with Floyd-Polk-Chattooga Medical Alliance who had a heart and close ties with ladies undergoing treatment.
The LGFB sessions are now offered monthly, serving between 3-8 guests.  There is a team of licensed cosmetologists, cancer survivors, as well as volunteers from FPC Medical Alliance pitch in to help set up, provide snacks, teach makeup techniques, hair, nail and skin care, or just sitting next to and listening to the cancer survivors.

The Floyd-Polk-Chattooga Medical Alliance is a group of physician spouses in the tri-county area who are dedicated to improving the community and the lives of fellow physician spouses through support and education.  The theme for our meetings this year is "Giving Back to our Community."  One way we decided to give back to our community was to make head scarves for the Look Good...Feel Better cancer survivors.
The scarf making event was scheduled to demonstrate charity work to our members' kids.

As you can see, the kids had a fantastic time making the tie-died head scarves!

Alliance members are encouraged to get involved with our monthly LGFB sessions.  The next Look Good Feel Better session will be held Monday, November 14th at the Tony E. Warren Cancer Center from 10am-Noon. There are three ways to help:
1- Stop by and offer words of support or help to our clients
2- Donate snacks or drinks to be served
3- Donate scarves
The December session is scheduled for 12/19.
